Have you noticed the musical talent, of all genres, floating around the Twin Tiers, from Lake Erie to Steuben and Tioga Counties? These artists just need that little bit of help to try to get to the next level. Odeum, in conjunction with Overgrown Productions, will be bringing that little bit of help to those artists.

Saturday and Sunday, April 2 and 3, at the Olean American Legion, the stage will be opened up to bands looking to win some studio time, and some camera time. Blind Sun Recordings, out of Belmont, has donated a four-track CD for the winner, as voted upon by the fans. The winner will also have some time with Todd Gerhard of Eye Kandy Photography, in Olean. Runner up will be treated to a shoot with Sage Photo Studios, out of Toms River, New Jersey. Don't worry, you don't have to go to Jersey for the shoot...unless you want to! Sage Photo Studio has worked for the US Navy and the A&E Channel on assignments.

Just as important tot the artist getting exposure and the chance to win the prizes, this event will also be a benefit for the Wounded Warrior Project. This organization has been at the front of helping those that come back to this country bearing the scars of war. Wounded Warriors helps to give them as close to a normal life as possible and help their families to cope and help out with the transition from soldier to war veteran and civilian. The event will be donating a portion of the proceeds to this organization. To do this, there will be 50/50 drawings and basket raffles. If you or someone you know may be willing to donate for the baskets, or would be willing to donate as an event sponsor, let Odeum know.

Come out and hear some local original music and help out a good cause t the Southern Tier Unsigned Musicians Showcase, April 2 and 3. Show starts at noon on Saturday, and 2 pm on Sunday.

For ticket information contact Odeum Entertainment at (716)790-0133 or Blind Sun Recordings at (585)808-4533. A one-day ticket is $7, $10 for both days.

Bands! If you would like to be part of this, shoot an email to stushowcase@gmail.com with an mp3, if you have one. If not, tell us what kind of music you play. We would also like to know who is in your band. All bands will be given a 30-minute slot, and must be able to complete a switchover in no more than 15 minutes.
