The Robert H. Jackson Center hosted a Continuing Legal Education Seminar titled “Woodstock: The Music of the First Amendment” on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. The event opened with remarks by Greg Peterson (President, Jackson Center), Randy Sweeney (Executive Director, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation), and John Merino (Gebbie Foundation). A roundtable discussion on “Contemporary Business Matters” featured Betsy Steger (Social Services Attorney for Chautauqua County); James R. Grasso, Marty Idzik, Kevin Hogan (partners, Phillips Lytle LLP); and Dennis Roberts (Chairman, McLean Group LLC). The keynote address was given by Samuel S. Yasgur, Sullivan County Attorney and the son of Woodstock farm owner, Max Yasgur. The program was concluded with a luncheon featuring special guest speaker Cory Wells, lead singer of Three Dog Night.
The Robert H. Jackson Center presented a $500 check to Cory Wells in honor of his appearance, which was donated to the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. Developed primarily as a continuing legal education seminar for attorneys, the seminar appealed to a cross-disciplinary audience of lawyers, municipal officials, business leaders, bankers, accountants, financial planners, insurance and investment agencies, not-for-profit organizations and their board members. The Robert H. Jackson Center hosts free, continuing education seminars on a bi-annual basis for area professionals which are also open to the public. The next seminar will be held in fall 2011.
